Ideal Image was a roughly 120-location national med spa selling laser hair removal, Botox, fillers, CoolSculpting and skin treatments on a membership-and-package model. It is also, as of 2026, a cautionary tale about prepaying a chain for lifetime results.

Two things make this page worth reading anyway. First, Ideal Image published a genuinely detailed price list, the most granular any national laser hair removal chain has ever posted, and those numbers remain the best available benchmark for what a chain course should cost. Second, if you have a prepaid package or an open financing balance, the rules for what survives are specific, dated, and different in every state. Everything below was verified on September 4 2026.

What Did Ideal Image Cost Without Insurance?

The table is Ideal Image’s own published price list, captured from idealimage.com/treatments/pricing on August 3 2025 and read from the Internet Archive on September 4 2026. The live page no longer exists; the domain does not resolve.

Structural notes from the page itself. Every laser hair removal package included eight sessions, and treating three or more areas carried volume savings. Financing was offered on any package over $250. Filler discounts stepped in at two to three syringes (an extra 10% off) and four syringes (an extra 25% off). CoolTone dropped 50% at four sessions and 61% at eight to twelve, which is where the $253 low comes from.

For a reality check on the laser hair removal figures, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons puts the national average practitioner fee for laser skin treatments including laser hair removal at $697, still published as of September 2026. Ideal Image’s eight-session package for a small area came in well under that; its largest areas came in well over.

What Happened, and What It Means for Your Package

Ideal Image Development Corp. filed a WARN notice with Florida Commerce on December 22 2025 covering 255 employees at 1 N. Dale Mabry Highway, Suite 1200 in Tampa, with a layoff date of February 20 2026. The record sits on the state’s 2025 WARN list under Health Care and Social Assistance. Clinics were then sold market by market or closed outright.

The companies picking up the pieces describe it differently, and the gap between their descriptions is itself informative. Milan Laser’s page says the headquarters closure “does not directly impact clinic operations” and that many clinics remain open. LaserAway’s page says corporate restructuring “does not necessarily mean every location has shut down” and tells clients to verify their specific clinic. Elase, which actually bought locations, is blunter: “The location of your local Ideal Image clinic has closed and been sold to Elase.” Two of those three pages are marketing from competitors. The third is from the buyer.

If you hold a prepaid package, the Elase terms are the concrete ones. For former Ideal Image locations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Illinois, packages purchased on or after November 14 2023 are honored through their original expiration date, up to November 14 2027, and packages bought before that date are not transferred. For Texas locations, the cutoff is January 1 2024 with an outer limit of January 1 2028. Lifetime touch-ups are being scheduled at Elase’s touch-up fee, and only at the location where the package was originally purchased.

Read that last sentence twice if you bought on the promise of free lifetime touch-ups. “Lifetime” in aesthetics is a promise from a going concern, and it does not survive the concern.

What Drives the Price at a Chain Like This

Area size and session count. Ideal Image’s own $28 to $216 per-session spread was almost entirely about how much skin the technician covered, and every area package was fixed at eight sessions regardless of area.

Membership versus walk-in pricing. The membership’s real function was drug pricing, with Xeomin at $8 a unit for members against $9 for non-members. That gap is small in isolation and large across a year of visits, which is exactly how membership economics are supposed to work.

Financing thresholds. Any package over $250 was financeable, which meant nearly everything above laser hair removal on a small area. Financing is how a $1,799 CoolSculpting plan becomes a monthly number that sounds manageable.

Prepayment risk, which is not priced into anything. Nothing on a med spa price list tells you what happens if the seller stops existing. On recurring-payment terms generally, be careful what you assume the law guarantees: the FTC’s Negative Option Rule page shows an active rulemaking with a March 2026 advance notice, after the Eighth Circuit vacated the 2024 click-to-cancel rule in July 2025. There is no safe assumption of a federal one-click cancellation right.

Cash Price vs. Insurance

None of this was ever covered. Cosmetic laser hair removal, neurotoxins and body contouring are not benefits under any standard plan, and national chains say so directly. LaserAway’s purchase terms state its treatments are voluntary elective procedures not covered by public or private insurance and that it will not submit claims to any carrier. Ideal Image operated the same way.

The practical consequence matters more now than it did in 2025. A prepaid aesthetic package is ordinary consumer debt, not medical debt, so it carries none of the credit-reporting protections medical bills get. If you are still making payments on a third-party loan for treatments you can no longer receive, that is a billing dispute with a lender, not a medical bill. Our guide to medical bills in collections explains the distinction, and the escalation tactics in how to negotiate medical bills work on aesthetic balances too.

How to Pay Less on the Replacement

Use the Ideal Image list as your benchmark, not your target. $224 to $1,728 for a complete eight-session area is what a national chain was willing to publish. Any quote far above that should come with an explanation.

Get a written total from anyone quoting you a monthly payment. LaserAway’s own footnote is the clearest example of why: laser hair removal advertised at $133 a month is an 18-month plan with a stated total payment of $2,394. Milan Laser advertises payments as low as $45 a month and publishes no total at all.

Ask what happens if the company is sold, before you prepay. After 2026 this is a fair question and any reputable clinic should answer it in writing. Ask specifically whether unused sessions transfer and whether touch-up guarantees survive a change of ownership.

Buy the smallest package that gets you started. Volume discounts are real, and so is the risk you just watched play out. One area, one package, then reassess.

Price a dermatology practice against the chain. Independent practices frequently publish package prices at roughly half the chain per-session rate for the same body area. Run both through our fair price checker. The case for insisting on a posted number is the same one behind hospital price transparency.

Pay with a credit card, not a clinic loan. Card charges carry dispute rights that a third-party installment loan does not, which is worth real money when the seller disappears.

The Bottom Line

Ideal Image’s final published prices were $28 to $216 per laser hair removal session with eight sessions per area, $9 a unit for Botox, and $449 to $749 a syringe for Juvederm. Those are historical numbers now, useful mainly as the yardstick for what you should be paying somewhere else. If you hold a prepaid package, check whether your specific location was acquired, then check your purchase date against the buyer’s cutoff, because that date decides everything.

For live pricing, our guides to LaserAway prices and Milan Laser hair removal costs cover the two national chains taking over this demand, and laser hair removal costs generally, Botox costs, CoolSculpting costs and IPL photofacial costs show what the same services run outside a chain.
