CashCareGuide exists for one reason: American healthcare pricing is deliberately opaque, and the people it hurts most are the ones paying cash. Roughly 25 million Americans have no health insurance, and tens of millions more carry deductibles so high they are effectively self-pay for everyday care.
We publish researched, sourced cash prices for the care people actually shop for: doctor visits, dental work, imaging, lab tests, prescriptions, and common procedures. Alongside the numbers, we publish the playbooks: how to negotiate a bill, how to get charity care, how to use price transparency data, and when an insurance alternative like direct primary care actually makes sense.
How we research prices
Every dollar figure on this site is traceable to a named source. We rely on government data (CMS, HRSA, Healthcare.gov), nonprofit research (KFF, Fair Health), federally mandated hospital price transparency files, and published cash prices from providers, labs, pharmacies, and manufacturers. Each article lists its sources at the bottom, and each shows the date it was last updated. Read the full editorial policy for details.
What we are not
We are not doctors, lawyers, or financial advisors, and nothing here is medical, legal, or financial advice. Prices vary by provider and region; always confirm with the provider before you book. See the medical disclaimer.
