Waxing is one of the few appointments in the health and beauty world where the price is posted on a wall before you sit down. That makes it easy to compare, and it also makes it easy to overpay, because the same three-letter service name covers very different amounts of work at very different price points.
This guide prices a Brazilian wax and every other common wax service off menus that real salons and national chains published as of September 4 2026: two national waxing chains, plus independent studios in New York, Denver and San Antonio. It covers the market generally. If you specifically want European Wax Center’s own menu, its Wax Pass packages, and how far its franchise prices drift from one store to the next, that is a separate page: European Wax Center prices.
What Does a Brazilian Wax Cost Without Insurance?
Expect $50 to $100 for a women’s Brazilian. That is Thervo’s national average as of December 2025, and the primary menus read for this guide land inside it, mostly between $56 and $79.
| Service | Low | Average | High |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brazilian wax, women | $50 | $65 | $100 |
| Brazilian wax, men | $60 | $90 | $120 |
| Bikini line (basic tidy) | $30 | $40 | $60 |
| Full or French bikini | $45 | $50 | $75 |
| Underarms | $15 | $25 | $30 |
| Eyebrows | $20 | $25 | $35 |
| Upper lip | $10 | $13 | $20 |
| Full face | $30 | $50 | $65 |
| Full leg | $60 | $80 | $100 |
| Half leg (lower or upper) | $35 | $47 | $60 |
| Full back | $50 | $65 | $80 |
| Chest | $33 | $47 | $70 |
| Full body wax | $150 | n/a | $300+ |
Here is where those numbers come from. European Wax Center’s national service page lists a Brazilian starting at $56, a full bikini at $47, a bikini line at $39, underarms at $24, eyebrows at $21, full legs at $75, a full back at $63 and a full face at $59. Waxing the City lists a Basic Brazilian starting at $40, a Modified Brazilian at $50 and a Full Brazilian at $60 for clients with a vagina, and $65, $85 and $105 respectively for clients with a penis.
The independents sit in the same band. Uni K Wax in New York’s East Village posts Brazilian waxing at $60 to $70, bikini at $50 to $60, underarms at $25, eyebrows at $25, a full back at $63 and full legs at $90. Wax & Lash in Denver charges $65 for a Brazilian, $35 for a bikini, $45 for a French bikini, $75 for full legs, $25 for underarms and $25 for brows. The Wax Bar in San Antonio, whose menu is stamped as effective November 1 2025, charges $70 for a female Brazilian, $90 for a male Brazilian, $52 for a bikini, $87 for full legs, $22 for underarms and $25 for brows.
Notice what does not happen: New York is not double Denver. The East Village Brazilian ($60 to $70) is essentially the same as Denver ($65) and cheaper than San Antonio ($70). Salon type drives the price far more than the metro does, and Thervo’s own breakdown agrees, putting budget chains and small local salons at $25 to $45, mid-range salons at $50 to $75, and luxury spas and boutiques at $100 to $200 or more.
What Drives the Price
Which “Brazilian” you actually booked. The word is not standardized. Waxing the City sells three tiers under the same name, a $20 spread from Basic to Full. Some studios bundle the buttocks strip into the Brazilian and some charge it separately (Uni K Wax lists buttocks waxing at $28 on its own). Always confirm what is included, because the cheap Brazilian on one menu is the mid-tier one on another.
Labor, which is most of the cost. BLS reports a median wage of $21.79 an hour, or $45,330 a year, for skincare specialists as of May 2025, and projects 9 percent employment growth from 2025 to 2035. A Brazilian is a 15 to 30 minute appointment plus turnover, so a studio needs roughly two to three times the hourly wage per hour of chair time to cover rent, wax, licensing and front desk. That math is why almost nobody prices a Brazilian under about $45 outside a promotion.
Your gender on the intake form. Male Brazilians cost 15 to 30 percent more at most studios because the area is larger and the hair denser. The Wax Bar charges $70 versus $90. Waxing the City charges $60 versus $105. If a studio prices gender-neutrally, that is a real discount for men and worth asking about by name.
The salon’s product and format. Hard wax, soft wax and sugaring all price differently, and studios that use branded or botanical formulas charge a premium for them. Wax & Lash in Denver, for instance, built around soft wax and includes a hot towel service on intimate waxes. None of that changes the hair, but it changes the price by $5 to $15.
General price drift. Personal care services ran 4.4 percent higher in July 2026 than a year earlier, per BLS CPI Table 2, ahead of personal care products at 3.1 percent. Any menu you saw quoted in a 2024 article is meaningfully stale.
Cash Price vs. Insurance
There is no insurance side to this. Cosmetic hair removal is not a covered benefit, so there is no allowed amount, no negotiated rate and no explanation of benefits to argue with. Every price above is already a cash price.
That cuts both ways. You will never get a plan to pick up part of it, but you also get something almost no medical service offers: a published price you can compare across five providers in ten minutes, before you commit. Most of the frustration people have with healthcare pricing, covered in our guide to hospital price transparency, simply does not exist here. Use that advantage.
The one thing worth watching is the tip. Tipping is customary at 15 to 20 percent in this category, which adds roughly $10 to $20 to a $65 Brazilian. Budget the total, not the menu price.
How to Pay Less
Take the first-visit offer, and take it on your most expensive service. Nearly every studio runs one. Wax & Lash Denver takes 50 percent off your most expensive wax on the first visit, so a $65 Brazilian becomes $32.50, with full legs and men’s back waxes excluded. Uni K Wax offers 50 percent off a first service for new local customers. Waxing the City advertises 20 percent off a first wax, and on the same page also advertises a free first wax on select services, so ask the studio which one you actually qualify for. European Wax Center’s current site-wide banner offers 50 percent off any new service.
Book the service you want, not the one above it. If you only need the sides tidied, a bikini line at $35 to $39 does that. Paying $65 for a Brazilian and asking the esthetician to leave most of it is money spent on nothing.
Set your real cadence before you buy a package. At $65 every four weeks you spend about $845 a year. At every six weeks, about $565. Packages and passes are priced against a frequency assumption, and buying twelve services you will use eight of is not a discount. European Wax Center’s Wax Pass structure is the most transparent example of how that math works.
Price the permanent option once, not never. If you are on track to spend $600 to $850 a year on one area indefinitely, run the numbers against laser hair removal or a chain package like Milan Laser. Laser costs more up front and does not work on every hair type, but the payback window on a high-frequency area is often three to five years.
Ask about newer estheticians and off-peak slots. Studios that run an apprentice or junior column usually discount it, and midweek morning appointments are the ones with empty chairs. Neither is advertised. Both are given if you ask at booking.
Do not let a discretionary appointment crowd out a real bill. If waxing is competing with a medical balance in your budget, deal with the balance first. Our guides on negotiating medical bills and what to do when medical bills go to collections will save you an order of magnitude more than any wax coupon.
The Bottom Line
Budget $65 to $80 all in for a Brazilian at a mainstream studio in 2026, which is roughly a $65 menu price plus tip. Below $50 usually means a promotion, a budget chain or a smaller service than you think you booked. Above $100 means a luxury spa, and you are paying for the room, not for a different result.
The single biggest lever is not the coupon, it is the calendar: how often you go decides your annual spend, and everything else is rounding. Compare three posted menus near you, confirm exactly what the Brazilian includes at each, and take whichever first-visit offer is on the table. If the studio you are comparing is European Wax Center, our European Wax Center prices page breaks down its per-store spread and its Wax Pass packages in detail, and dermaplaning covers the other common menu add-on people ask about at the same appointment.
